Azaleas and quince are in bloom. Rhododendrons are just about to open and lady slippers are just peaking their heads up. And oh yes, the tulips, all 28,000 of them.
Free admission to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine is available Memorial Day. If you can catch a few hours in between the raindrops make sure to head on down.
Meandering paths, lily pond, garden sculpture, and a ocean side view make for a fantastic day in the great outdoors.
Not to mention the gorgeous waterfall in the rhododendron garden.
Some areas are handicap accessible and all are service by a shuttle so everyone can enjoy the gardens.
Check out the show at Carver Hill Gallery in Rockland. Husband and wife team Patricia Wheeler and J. Fred Woell offer an engaging show. Patricia’s mixed media paintings tell a story in layers. Here colors and textures are unique and engaging. J. Fred Woell’s assemblages are created in response to a world obsessed with consumption and the problems it leaves behind. (One of my favorite subjects and mediums.) The show is up until Wednesday the 28th.
Coming up this weekend is the “Garden Party” at Saturday Cove. Garden inspirations, cottage furnishings, vintage finds, and chic apparel.
